Current Awareness

I have only just got the hang of RSS feeds but am now a big fan, as they do bring lots of useful sites together and you can see at a glance what's new. I have been on Twitter for a while but haven't used it much-if I have time I do read my Tweets and find some good stuff, but there is lots of rubbish on there as well. Pushnote I had not even heard of, but I will try it at home- it seems to be blocked at school.

Building my Brand

Well this was food for thought! I have never searched for myself on Google and was amazed to find, not only the usual junk, but also things I have made for school on PBWiki and Slideshare. My lack of full understanding of how the internet works still catches me out sometimes! I will have a good thing about an "image" and profile and see if i can improve my brand and make it more consistent.

A little bit about me

I have been a school librarian for 2 years at a secondary school in Kent. Sadly I am being made redundant from my current post, but every cloud has a silver lining, and mine is my new job at a girls' independent school. I will be starting in September, and I will be working with both the junior and senior schools.

I want to do this course because I think it is important to keep in touch with the best in new technology and how it can be used in school. Although I have tried out some Web 2.0 things, I have lots to learn!
